The Road To Wellness . . .continued

April 15, 2009, I received an email from my friend.  Apparently, she had been talking with the chiropractor she had begun seeing shortly after our lunch conversation.  He had mentioned the name of a surgeon who, according to an article in a well-known chiropractic journal, helped patients complaining of physical issues very similar to those my friend had been experiencing.  Within a month, my friend was boarding a plane on her way to see this out-of-state specialist.

At the beginning of June, I received another email from my friend.  She was home recovering from the aches and pains of surgery, but with very high spirits.  For the first time in years, she felt more like herself and was beginning the process of getting to know her body again.

“I cannot thank you enough for your honesty, wisdom and friendship,” she had written.  “You really pushed me to look outside the box and take ownership of my challenges by stretching myself out of comfort-zones and into new possibilities and eventually REAL answers.”

My response to her was a simple one, “I merely shared my observations and a bit of knowledge brought to me through personal experience.  You were the one who shared with me your needs and what it was you were seeking.  You just needed to be reminded that there was another way and that you were capable of finding it.  You needed to remember that the answers resided in and with YOU.”

I am happy to report that as of this blog entry date, my friend is finding her way to a new perspective on healing . . . she’s also physically healing like a champ!  She has her Rolodex of professional “assistants;” a chiropractor (previously mentioned), a nutritionist, an acupuncturist and a wonderful physical therapist who also does energy-body work.  She still sees a few of her doctors, and of course, is in regular contact with the out-of-state surgeon’s office, but she has begun to realize that her choices and determinations are what will lead her to true, balanced health.

She, herself, said it best during a phone conversation a few weeks ago.  “You know, I think I’m finally understanding . . . the road to wellness really is paved with the stones of choice that reside within ME.”

Amen, sister!!!
